The Equality and Diversity Award is a national level 2 qualification accredited by the awarding body: EDI.
The awarding body, EDI, supplies the certificate which will show your name and the name and level of the qualification: Equality and Diversity Award Level 2.
The National Qualifications Framework (NQF) sets out the levels against which a qualification can be recognised in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. This qualification is accredited at level 2 within the National Qualification Framework.

There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification.

Learners can progress onto a wide variety of qualifications including those which are job-role specific such as those in Business and Administration, Customer Service, Retail, Health and Social Care. They can also progress onto other qualifications which are suitable regardless of which sector they are working in or expect to work in. Examples of such qualifications include the EDI Level 1 Award in Disability Awareness and the EDI Level 2 Award in Employability Skills.
The qualification will also provide learners with opportunities to progress in their employment as it is designed to ensure they are aware of Equality and Diversity issues at work.
The professional training resource includes a workbook of tasks which will help you access the relevant information. The workbook will ensure that you have a good understanding of the principles of equality and diversity and how they apply to you and your organisation. You are not required to submit the workbook for assessment but we anticipate that you will fully utilise it before you undertake the assessment.
There is a short multiple choice assessment consisting of 30 questions which cover: the key features of a culture which promotes equality and values diversity, the importance of the promotion of equality and valuing of diversity in an effective workplace, how you can contribute to the promotion of equality and the valuing of diversity.
The professional training resource includes a sample test in order for you to highlight any gaps in your knowledge.
The multiple choice assessment takes between 30 and 60 minutes to complete.
You will take the assessment at your place of work.
The multiple-choice test is graded as Pass or Fail.
The online assessment will require your computer to have minimum system requirements in order for it to support the assessment function correctly. We will give you guidance on how you can ensure that your computer is fit for purpose. You may prefer the paper version should your computer require excessive updating or you may be simply happier working with paper and ink!
Unfortunately you will need to re-apply for the assessment and pay an additional fee, however if you are able to produce a certificate from a doctor showing that you were unwell, the fee will be waived.
The awarding body recommends 10 hours of learning to complete the programme. You may require more or less time depending on your experience.
The cost for individuals is £149 plus VAT. We may be able to agree discounts for large groups from single organisations. The fee covers the professional training resource, registration onto the qualification and certification fees. It also includes access to the members’ update area of the website for 12 months.
The website will reflect changes in equality and diversity law (e.g. the proposed new Equality Act which is described in the resource pack). The materials supporting the course will be updated regularly to reflect the needs of the qualification.
